 At the heart of the awakening process, as at the heart of spirituality itself, lies the paradox of the search: If we already are the truth, happiness and love we seek, what’s the point of doing anything to find or awaken to it? Yet if we never discover it for ourselves and turn it into a living presence in our lives, how can we ever relieve our suffering and transform our lives? In this talk, Stephan will explore this paradox, known as the gateless gate in Zen or the open secret, and discuss the paradoxical value of the search.
